Nicole Hallissey RDN, CDN
Helloooo, it's me. I've been wondering if after ...just kidding. It's not Adele, it's me Nicole. I'm glad you stumbled upon my site because I LOVE sharing my nutrition practice with others. My journey began at the age of 13 when I prided myself as a professional babysitter. I babysat for many families, but two mothers just happened to be Registered Dietitians--my inspirations.
I am a born and raised Jersey Girl (but not the Jersey-Shore TV show type) and studied Nutrition and Dietetics at Rutgers University. For those familiar with becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), I completed my internship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. I began my career as a Supermarket Dietitian for a major chain in New Jersey. The supermarket has made me into a walking and talking dictionary of food labels.
In 2013 I made the move to fulfill a dream of mine. I was accepted to Columbia University for a Masters Degree in Nutrition and Education and shortly after landed an amazing job as a Wellness Dietitian for a prominent corporation in New York City. As I was about to make the big move to the big apple, I got the best, most life-changing surprise. On July 21st, 2015, Leila happened. Although I was unable to move to NYC, I became a mom and it has brought me closer to my family and has made me a more efficient, patient and loving person. I continue to work as The Worksite Wellness Nutritionist in NYC and am almost done with my degree at Columbia.
My blog will be divided into Wellness at Work and Wellness at Home. If you are like millions of Americans, we spend many of our waking hours at work. Since we have no choice to do otherwise, we must find ways to incorporate healthy eating, stress reduction and wellness in our workplaces. Follow the Wellness at Work Blog to find my tips on how to make your work environment more health supportive and fulfilling.
The Wellness at Home Blog delves into my experiences as a mother and how I try to keep my family lively and well. Here you will find the occasional Leila picture...okay fine, I lied--here, you will likely find a lot of Leila pictures, as well as healthy recipes, recipes for homemade, non-toxic cleaning supplies and other tips for practicing wellness in your home. Since I am new to momhood, I hope to gain insight from you. Sharing is caring, right! I am still trying to figure this new life out. Tips, advice, recipes and remedies are all welcome!
That's my story so far...join me as it evolves and unravels.
